5 Fascinating Facts About Cat Behavior That You Didn’t Know About
Cats are amazing creatures. They have many ways of communicating with us and showing their love for us but sometimes we don’t understand. I’m going to tell you some of the interesting ways our cats connect with us through their behavior.
1 ) Long, Slow Blinking
If you notice that when your cat is around you, they often have long, slow blinks, that means they are fully comfortable in your presence. In a cat’s world, closing its eyes in the presence of another cat signifies trust. This applies to their humans as well. You can return this trust by blinking slowly back at your cat and they will surely understand.
2 ) Rubbing Against You
When a cat rubs against your leg, they are showing just how much they love you, or marking its territory. Either way, it’s an endearing gesture. When you’ve come home from a long day of work, and your cat rubs against your leg, take it as them saying “I missed you”, or “I love you!” For a cat, rubbing against you is the equivalent of giving a hug.
3 ) Exposing Its Belly
A cat exposing its belly puts it in a highly vulnerable position. When your cat shows you their belly, they are expressing just how much they trust you. It’s also a way for a cat to ask for attention or ask to be pat. Some cats enjoy having their bellies rubbed, but some will take this as an invitation to play and you might find them using your hand as their personal toy, so be careful!
4 ) Bring You Dead Animals
I know, it’s nasty. Nobody wants to find a dead bird at their doorstep or a dead mouse at the end of their bed. But don’t get mad at your cat for these behaviors! It’s their way of giving us a gift and showing their appreciation for us. If cats had the ability to go out and buy you a bouquet of flowers, they sure would but they can’t. So this is as good as it’s going to get.
5 ) Curling Their Tail Around You
When a cat curls their tail around your leg, it’s a way of them showing its love and affection for you. It’s kinda similar to how cats will rub up against your leg to give you a hug. If your cat doesn’t curl their tail around you but it’s curled upwards and high standing, that shows they are in a pleasant mood. A low-hanging tail is a sign that your cat may not be happy at the moment, so watch out for this! You want your furry little friend to be happy and content.
